Questions

Before you haul a log.

Something else on your mind? Call (956) 202-3455.

What do I need to bring for drop-off milling? add

Your logs and a detailed cut list — board thicknesses, widths, and how many of each. The cut list is required so every log is milled the way you need it. We sticker and stack your lumber and call you when the job is done.

How long does on-site portable milling take? add

About 20–30 minutes per log on average. Having your logs moved to the mill and stacking the lumber yourself cuts the time — and your bill — considerably. Our estimate calculator works it out from your log count.

What happens if there's metal in my log? add

Nails, fence wire, and old hardware can break a band saw blade. If that happens there is a $30 fee per broken blade. Yard and fence-line trees are the most likely to hide metal, so let us know where your logs came from.

How big a log can you mill? add

Our Norwood handles logs up to 36" in diameter and 13' long, with a maximum cut width of 31".

How dry will kiln-dried lumber be? add

Our solar kiln targets 8–12% moisture content — ready for furniture and interior projects. It takes lumber up to 12' long and holds 1,600 board feet per load.

How far will you travel? add

We mill on-site throughout Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa from our shop in Chatfield. Travel is $1.25 per mile, one-way from the shop, plus a $100 setup fee.
